Apple's most affordable Macbook has been updated yesterday. It now sports a faster processor, a faster memory, and a bigger hard drive.
The new specs include (previous specs are in parentheses):
- 2.13GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor (up from 2.0GHz Intel Core 2 Duo)
- 2GB 800MHz DDR2 memory (up from 667MHz DDR2)
- 160GB 5400 rpm hard disk drive (up from 120GB)
The NVIDIA 9400M graphics chip remains the same, which was updated January 21st along with the upgrade to the 1066MHz front-side bus and doubling of the RAM to 2GB.
One should note that Apple's most affordable MacBook now has a faster processor (and same hard disk drive space) when compared to the low-end aluminum MacBook. The aluminum MacBook does have a faster memory but the white MacBook has FireWire 4o0. With those in mind, it looks like the white MacBook is a better buy than the base aluminum MacBook, especially since the price difference between the two is ₱ 16,000.
It is now available at the
Philippine Apple Online Store for ₱ 55,990 and if you have a student in your household, you can avail of the
educational discount which lets your purchase the white MacBook for only ₱ 52,990.
